In-Home Dog Training Lessons
During In-home dog training lessons I will devote my attention to just you and your pet in the comfort of your own home. Some behavioral problems exist only in the home and can be addressed during our lessons.
All training's are tailored around your specific needs. Behaviors such as:
Housetraining/potty training
Coming when called A.K.A. Recall
Inappropriate jumping
Loose Leash Walking
Stay
No biting/mouthing
Crate training
Attention
Barking
Door etiquette or not running out the front door!
Aggression
Fearful/shy dogs
Resource guarding (food /toys)
Selecting the right breed and much more!
The first session will last an hour and possibly two hours for more complicated behavioral problems.
Lessons can be scheduled during the week, evenings and on Saturdays from 8am to 12pm. Saturdays fill quick, so book in advance.
For a complete puppy package (6 months and younger) I offer a reduced rate for 5 lessons. In that time we will cover housetraining, crate training, socialization ( I will bring my own dogs for this as they are healthy and vaccinated) mouthing/biting, jumping, attention and coming when called. We will also begin loose leash walking.
If this is your first puppy, I will set up a schedule for you to help house train quickly and effectively. Our 1st lesson will be designated to answer and go over any questions you might have so that we start off your relationship on a positive note. I recommend training puppies as soon as possible. I started training my own dogs at 6 weeks. If you start young, you can prevent many bad habits from developing.
Some cases such as house training, mouthing, or crate training may only require 1 lesson, please call or e-mail me for further details.
We also offer a basic manner's package that is also discounted from the hourly rate for 5 sessions.
** Complex behavioral issues such as aggression and extreme fearfulness are charged a higher rate per hour. Please call for more details. There is a higher fee for these cases because of the amount of work and correspondence that is necessary to treat these problems. Evaluations and custom handouts are created for each individual case.
All packages must be completed within 16 weeks. This policy is to ensure the best rate of success for you and your dog. Every lesson builds upon the previous lesson and consistency is a crucial part of the training program.
You will be required to sign a compliance contract that states that it is your responsibility to work and practice with the dog between training lessons. This is imperative to ensure the success of the training program. People often inquire about guarantees. What I can guarantee is that I will efficiently train you on the proper technique and management of training your dog. The rest is up to you.
*Please also note that for aggression cases it is critical that you practice the desensitization/counter conditioning program that you will receive. If I feel the work is not being done and/or you cancel more than one lesson I have the right to drop you as a student with only a partial refund. Aggression is very serious and commitment and dedication is imperative for everyone's safety.
Owners and their dogs are students. If you attend class, study and complete the assigned homework you will get good grades. If your participation is below average so will be your grades or in this case your dogs' behavior. Again, consistency and repetition is the critical component in any training program.
I understand that emergencies occur, but if you must cancel a lesson you must call me 48 hours prior to your lesson or you will be charged for that lesson. I schedule lessons and teach classes all throughout the state and schedule them based on location. I ask that you please give me the courtesy of 48 hours so that I can try and adjust my schedule accordingly.
